PLEXI, PLASTIC, WOOD & ASS

YACTAC Gallery is pleased to present PLEXI, PLASTIC, WOOD & ASS, an upcoming exhibition of four Canadian artists: Patrick Cruz, Janice Cheung, Mike Gagne, and Mike Ness.

PLEXI, PLASTIC, WOOD & ASS examines the foundations of material
processing and the subversive nature of humour. The impetus of this exhibition aims to examine the relationships that form between co-existing “objects of art” within the framed space and the narratives that often assimilate.

Born and raised in Manila Philippines, Vancouver based artist Patrick Cruz is a Filipino -Canadian multidisciplinary artist who studied Painting in the University of the Philippines Diliman and received his BFA degree studies from Emily Carr University of Art + Design with a major in General Fine Arts. patrickcruz0@gmail.com

Janice Cheung is a Vancouver based installation artist with a background in photography and extended media through the University of Guelph Ontario. Cheung’s work consists of interactive multimedia installations, often incorporating a multiple of some kind.

Mike Ness is an artist living and working in Tokyo, Japan. Born in 1984, his works don’t strive to, but rather unwittingly confess stories of love, sex and various other ideas or desires that dominate the mind of a twenty-something through the use of humor and surreal imagery.

Mike Gagne is an illustrator living in Toronto; He studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design and also had a brief stint at Shenda College. He draws influence from classic cartoons, Zappa and the dada movement. He also plays in a rock and roll bank called Red Trakpants!
