Saturday January 19th, 2013 – Opening Reception 7pm – 11pm

In 2011, Jeremy Green was living in a state of flux while delivering art
across Canada; alternating between life on the road and just a few
days each month at his home and studio in Vancouver. During this
period he developed a new process to create large ‘skins’ of acrylic
paint that he then wrapped around panels and stretcher bars.

For his exhibition, Home, at the YACTAC gallery, Green presents
expressive new works that explore the metaphysical framework of
both the personal and the universal through painting and installation.
By warping, stretching and tearing these ‘skins’ Green attempts to push
the boundaries of the medium using its malleability to provoke a
visceral experience with it. Aesthetically, these works do not represent
a traditional sense of beauty yet much like the world around them they
are chaotic, fragile and evocative.

Jeremy Green lives and works in Vancouver and has recently shown
at Quinary Art Projects (Vancouver, 2012) UNIT/PITT PROJECTS
(Vancouver, 2011), The Fair: International Contemporary Art in
Vancouver, (Vancouver, 2011), 304 Days (Vancouver, 2011),
the Queen Elizabeth Theatre (Vancouver, 2011), and
Monte Clark (Toronto, 2009). He attended the residency Figure
in a Mountain Landscape (Reprise) with Silke Otto-Knapp at
the Banff Center in 2010. He received a BFA from ECUAD in 2009.
