Painting At The North Pole – Michael Markowsky

Opening Reception: Nov 16, 7-11pm

SPECIAL PERFORMANCE during the opening from 9-10pm

>>

Michael Markowsky –one of Canada’s official ‘War Artists’– traveled to the North Pole with the Royal Canadian Air Force in April 2012. While he was there, he made landscape paintings while standing outside in the -35oC weather!

Yactac Gallery is proud to present the paintings, drawings, photographs and videos Michael Markowsky made during his North Pole adventure.

Markowsky was participating in the Canadian Forces Artists Program, which has existed in one form or another since World War 1. Four members of the Group of Seven participated in the program, as have many other great artists such as David Milne, Alexander Colville, etc. (View images: http://www.facebook.com/MarkowskyArt)
