The new body of work by Setareh Yasan explores her ongoing interest in the fundamental existential quandaries that individuals face during different stages of their being. In Room of her Own, Yasan uses her sculptures as props to stage the psychological and emotional state of a fictional character who is struggling to adapt to her ever changing body. Room of her Own is specifically made for Yactac’s new location in Chinatown.
Setareh Yasan works and lives in Vancouver. Yasan directed a residency program for artists and writers in Ferndale, Washington; she was one of the selected artists at Beyond Spectacle Residency at the Simon Fraser University. Her work has been exhibited at Axis Mundi Gallery, Two Rivers Art Gallery, AHVA Gallery, Satellite Gallery and Access Gallery in British Columbia, Canada and Sikås Art Center in Sikås, Sweden.
